What You Need To Know About Diabetes
Is diabetes part of your family tree’s history? Is either your mom or your dad suffering from high blood sugar levels? If you answer yes to either one of these questions, chances are you are prone to get diabetes sooner or later if you’re not consuming the proper food or not doing physical activities.
One of the most widespread diseases these days is diabetes which affects millions of individuals around the world. Having diabetes would not really kill a person who has it but its effects can bit by bit put an end to a person’s total health in due time. A diabetic’s body also either does not deliver enough insulin or does not react well to its own insulin. Two of the most prevalent types of diabetes are known as Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is also identified as “juvenile diabetes” because it affects a lot of the younger populace than any other form of diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the body is not able to process glucose properly since the pancreas does not produce the proper amount of insulin.
Type 2 diabetes on the other hand is the abnormal reaction of the body to insulin which is often referred to as insulin resistance. With insulin resistance, several cells in the body like muscle, liver, and fat cells do not usually accept insulin to turn sugar into energy ensuing to high blood sugar levels. This form of diabetes is more common than type 1 diabetes and it is also attributed to obesity.
Symptoms of having diabetes are greater than before thirst, upsurged fluid intake, weight loss, mental fatigue and frequent urination. These symptoms can grow rapidly in Type 1 diabetes or bit by bit and subtly in Type 2 diabetes. Weight loss, in particular, occurs mainly on people with type 1 diabetes and also becomes a rare occurrence among people with type 2.
Treatments for diabetes involve insulin injections, proper diet and exercise, and blood sugar levels should be constantly checked via a glucose meter. People who are at high risk of developing diabetes are overweight to obese, intaking sugary foods and living inactive lifestyles.
Preventive measures are better than any form of treatment. Diabetes can be best avoided by not letting it take place at all. Increasing the intake of healthy foods notably fruits and vegetables will help a lot and doing more physical activities will decrease the risk of diabetes.
